Cold Brew Oleato with Maple Nutmeg Vanilla Bean Infused Milk
Olive oil in coffee may sound strange and foreign, but Starbucks was absolutely onto something with their viral oleato. This drink is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up with cold brew, maple syrup, vanilla bean paste, and nutmeg for a sweet, complex flavor.
Olive oil in coffee may sound strange and foreign, but Starbucks was absolutely onto something with their viral oleato. This drink is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up with cold brew, maple syrup, vanilla bean paste, and nutmeg for a sweet, complex flavor.
Let's talk about the recipe!
Ingredients
- Cold brew coffee
- Maple syrup
- Vanilla bean paste
- Nutmeg
- Whole milk
- Extra virgin olive oil
Mix the Cold Brew
Mix 1/2 Tbsp maple syrup, a dash of vanilla bean paste, a pinch of nutmeg, and the cold brew in a glass.
What we want to do here is make sure the flavor is infused into the coffee and the milk, so that everything is packed with flavor and subtle sweetness!
Froth the Milk
In a separate cup, mix the milk, olive oil, another pinch of nutmeg, another dash of vanilla, and the rest of the maple. Froth with a milk frother. Pour into cold brew mixture, sprinkle on more nutmeg, and serve.
Now, typically cold foam is made with heavy cream, so this isn't going to stay frothy and light for very long. It'll start to become liquid again as it mixes with the coffee, but frothing it will bring a light airiness that you wouldn't otherwise get.
